Muscle Pain
Galapiat Cirque
Neck-breaking humor in a charming straight–to-the-point circus concert that hits in the middle of solar plexus.
Muscle Pain is a charming and raw circus concert mixing dark humor with vulnerability. Elice and Chloé take the stage together with a drummer, melodies, prayers – and exercise bicycles. The first time they met was at the Circus Pilot education in Botkyrka in 2003. 18 years later they meet again, this time in very different circumstances: both on an exercise bike at a rehabilitation center for professional athletes and neuropathy patients. One has fallen 28 meters, the other is living in the aftermath of a serious illness.
Now they are back and have created a performance about how 20 partially bizarre years can change two women´s dreams, drives and bodies.
Elice Abonce Muhonen and Chloé Derrouaz are part of Galapiat Cirque, a cooperative of around 50 artists, producers and technicians, based in Brittany, France. They produce performances, films and festivals, and tour numerous artistic productions. The company shares the belief in circus as an exceptional medium för personal and social change. Elice and Chloé have their backgrounds in Finland, Mexico and France, and they were both trained in circus in Botkyrka.
